Let’s Have Lunch

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:4-5

He says, “Let’s have lunch.” He prepares a table and a meal, to sit and fellowship. He will deal with the enemy, all in good time. He’s not worried about them.

“When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2Kings 6:14-17

Elisha had complete confidence in God. He saw through spiritual eyes, revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, what the other man could not. We don’t usually see everything that is actually going on, but we can trust in our mighty God. He is the Lord of hosts!

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

In this life, we face many trials that can bring us anxiety and distress, but God, He’s not even a little concerned about the enemy. He is concerned for us. He prepares a table. He invites us to sit, eat and fellowship. The enemy can wait. He doesn’t even give them a second thought. He will deal with him later. By deal, I mean defeat and utterly destroy 🙂

“Behold, all who are incensed against you
shall be put to shame and confounded;
those who strive against you
shall be as nothing and shall perish.

12 You shall seek those who contend with you,
but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
shall be as nothing at all.

13 For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:11-13

“Those who wait for me shall not be put to shame. Can the prey be taken from the mighty, or the captives of a tyrant be rescued?
For thus says the Lord:
“Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken,
and the prey of the tyrant be rescued,
for I will contend with those who contend with you,
and I will save your children. Isaiah 49:23b-25

“Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident.” Psalm 27:13

“So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told. Acts 27:25

“Wait On the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalm 27:14

Sit down and relax for a while at the table with Jesus. Talk, listen and fellowship with Him. Be refreshed. Be confident in Him. He will take care of the enemy, all in good time. His time. His way. No problem.
